PASSION ABOUT READING BOOKS

The number of young people and children reading books, even adults, is decreasing rapidly. Indeed, there are too many distractions around us. Many things such as television, telephone, computer games, social media put us off gaining the habit of "reading books". I would like to start a social responsibility project with the Instagram account of "Suzan's Library" (Suzan_in_Kitapligi), especially in order to help young people and children gain the habit of reading and make them love reading.

·         READING BOOKS IS FUN

First of all, reading a book is much more enjoyable and fun than watching television and looking at "photoshopped" photos on social media. When you read a book, you will definitely get a reward somewhere and sometime.  However, when you play a computer game and collect millions of points, no one will congratulate you except for that game.

You may ask yourself “How will I achieve something and get a reward by reading books?” The answer is simple! Thanks to the information you get, you can impress everyone with your knowledge and coolness, each time you chat with people. You will become popular day by day “in a positive way”; not with the photos you share, but with your general culture…

Instead of wasting your time by watching TV series on TV or by looking at some silly photos on social media platforms in the evenings, you can improve yourself by reading a book. Please do not get me wrong: I am definitely not saying “don't watch TV series”, I'm talking about a "transformation" by increasing your reading time somehow.

·         THE IMPORTANCE OF READING BOOKS

We all know that reading books has lots of benefits. But why is it so useful and beneficial? While reading a book, we learn to understand and interpret an article. We integrate that information into our lives, no matter how simple the book we read. If we think that we need to perceive and evaluate every moment we live and act accordingly, we will see that reading a book provides a great support in this regard.

Furthermore, all young people and children, no matter what field they want to develop themselves in, will definitely write or read reports, articles and books. Therefore, we should improve ourselves in writing and understanding as much as possible. We should all read books, articles and magazines in different fields.

Additionally, there is a serious and annoying issue that concerns all young people and children: “Extremely Hard Questions For The New Generation”… Unfortunately, nowadays the students are asked this kind of “extremely hard” questions in the Turkish Education System. Students have to read long texts in such a short time and solve the tough question asked. Therefore, reading fast plays an important role. Each student should be able to read much faster than a normal person! I believe that reading should not be correlated with exams. However, the truth hurts…

·         MAKE TIME TO READ BOOKS

Both young people and children say that they like to read but they do not have a time to read. In fact, if you look at the student groups preparing for the exams, they are definitely not wrong. However, I do not think they have the right to "read zero books".

When necessary, students should spend less time on social media, play less computer games, watch less movies or TV series. Then they will be able to have time for reading a nice book! They can form a very pleasant habit of reading, whether on the way to school or in the evening before going to sleep.

I would like to give an advice for the students who are studying for the exams: Solving a paragraph question is not the same as reading a book. It is necessary to both read and study at the same time. The habit of reading books regularly, will be very advantageous for you both in your life - in your social relations - and in exams!

·         START BY READING THE BOOKS YOU LOVE

Do you say, “I feel sleepy when I start reading a book”, “When I read a book, I cannot focus on the book at all, I'm either daydreaming or singing in my head”? So first discover the genres you love and start reading them.

Instead of starting with the original versions of the classics, you can read simplified versions for adults or children. If you say, “I can't focus on at all, I immediately disconnect from the book,” start by reading your favourite type of books. Your favourite genres might be romantic comedies, science fiction, fantasy, crime and thrillers. It does not really matter "in the beginning". As long as you read a book, increase your reading and perception speed. You will want to read more and more, day by day. One day you will discover that you have read many classic books…

·         READ SOME BOOKS THAT WILL DEVELOP YOU, DO NOT JUST READ THE BOOKS YOU LOVE

In order to gain the habit of reading books, you may start with reading books that you like. However, after a while you should start reading classics and personal development books. One might start reading classic books which are writer for children. After a period of time, you will automatically want to read something advanced books which have a more complicated topic and an advanced language. At the end of your reading journey, you will be able to read philosophical books!

In conclusion, everyone should read books each evening. Day by day you will be more motivated to read something. You might start to write your own book one day. I hope that everyone will discover new fascinating worlds by reading breath-taking books…

ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS AND SOCIETIES: INTERNAL ASSESSMENT (IB)

HOW DOES THE COUNTRIES’ -TURKEY, THE NETHERLANDS AND THE USA- SOLAR POWER USAGE CORRELATE WITH THEIR ECONOMIC STATUS? PERSONAL ENGAGEMENT Solar energy can be used for solar water heaters and house heating. The heat from solar energy enables the production of food, chemicals, textiles, and it can also be used in warm greenhouses, swimming pools, and livestock buildings. Furthermore, providing a power source for electronic devices and even cooking can be achieved by using solar energy [1] . Turkey is a country which might use the solar power energy efficiently. However, in our country, although the solar energy is used sporadically for hot water in domestic use and in some hotels in southern Turkey, we can state that it is not widely applied as a sustainable and a clean energy source. Unlike Turkey, the Netherlands uses the technological opportunities really well, even though the country does not have an extreme access of sun light [2] . On the contrary, United States ...

ELECTRIC CONSUMPTION AND ENERGY SAVING

[7] INTRODUCTION: THE EFFECTS OF ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION ON THE ENVIRONMENT Electricity has a great importance in our World nowadays. Especially, due to the pandemic we all have started using the electrical devices and gadgets much more than before. This increase in electricity consumption has absolutely some effects on the environment. These impacts depend on the usage, how and where we have been generating or delivering. The usage of electricity may seem quite safe. However, the production and transmission of electricity have a huge impact on the environment. Electricity is generated by moving a conductive wire such as copper in a magnetic field. An electric generator is a machine that contains coiled conductive wires rotating inside a magnet and generates electric current by rotating these wires. In order to obtain a large amount of electrical energy which is necessary in our homes, workplaces, industry; large power plants are needed. [8]   Most power plants are gen...

ENGLISH INDIVIDUAL ORAL QUESTIONS (IB)

What ideas and images do we associate with a healthy lifestyle? In my opinion the main point is balancing our lives. Most of the people think that a healthy lifestyle includes only eating vegetables and fruits, doing tons of cardio and not even tasting the meals that include carbohydrates. This idea is wrong. Because a lifestyle should be able to last forever. We should also include some awards like chocolate or pasta in our diet. What constitutes an identity? The society plays the biggest role while creating our identities. Because our values and culture affect our way of thinking and our lifestyle as well. Our family and our friends may change our point of view. For instance, when we visit our family members who live abroad may develop our personality. While talking with them we might use another language. And the language we use improves our vision. When we start talking another language, we might think in a different way than usual. The vocabulary and the gramm...
