We all have some long-term goals and short-term
goals. When one sets an objective, he/she definitely wants to reach that goal. While
we are working on for our objectives, we may get tired easily, we might fail at
doing something or we may not even reach our goal at all. Therefore, I would
like to give some tips about “how to set an objective perfectly”.
Nobody wants to fail at anything… Actually,
none of us would like to do the same task again and again. However, when we do
not set proper goals, both short-term and long-term, we might feel as we are
fighting against the oceans and the waves…
I do not say that “You should not have any
dreams or some goals which can only be achieved by working really hard”. That
is really not what I meant. Contrariwise, I would like to help people about “how
to reach those fantastic dreams and amazing goals”.
In my opinion, one should first set a
breath-taking objective, which seems nearly impossible to achieve it. For
instance, my dream/goal is to set up a law firm which is just like in the American
movies and series. I would like to have an enormous skyscraper where the
employees are running around and working really hard. This goal seems pretty
unachievable is not it? Definitely… However, do not forget about chasing your
dreams. Just work hard and set “short-term and ‘SMART’ goals” in order to achieve
your biggest objective. Nothing can prevent us from living our dreams. The most
important rule in your journey should be “believe in yourself”.
Firstly, I would like to talk about the
short-term goals. I strongly believe that separating your dream into little
goals is the most important part to be motivated all the time. For instance,
your goal might be “being the best me”. Your short-term goals can be doing
sports daily, finishing a book each week, eating healthy eighty percent of the
time, being social and texting my friends each evening, writing a book, taking
some courses about your job and learning new languages. When you do all these
activities, then you would certainly be amazing. At first, although the goal “being
the best me” seems unachievable, when you separate your goal into smaller goals
you can simply reach them.
You might have heard about the “SMART” technique.
A “SMART” objective should be specific, simple, measurable, meaningful,
motivating, achievable, realistic, reasonable and time limited.
Your dream might be insane. If you use the “SMART”
technique for your short-term and little goals, nothing can defeat you. You
might set an objective like “I am going to read six personal development books
by the end of this month.” As you see your goal is specific, measurable, achievable,
realistic and time limited- shortly “SMART”. You can set each objective as in
the example. As you reach your short-term goals easily, you will get motivated,
and you will start to work hard and harder day by day.
Lastly, we should have a look at the “long-term
objectives”. The SMART short-term goals will lead you to your long-term goals. You
must have some long-term goals, such as “I will improve myself in the marketing
sector”. In order to make this long-term goal real, you should have some SMART
short-term goals such as “I will take a course about marketing during the
summer break.”, “I will read magazines, articles and books about marketing- I
should read at least five books each month.” As you see, separating your
long-term goals is very easy. Move step by step and live your dreams.
In conclusion, dream big… Set some SMART
short-term goals in order to achieve your long-term goals. When you reach at
your long-term objectives, one day you finally start living your dream. Chase
your dreams and work hard.
