Dear ladies and
gentlemen,
I would like to talk
about what I have learned when I read this book. This book may seem a book for
children. You may also think that it is just a fiction story. Nevertheless, it
really is not just a book. It is a reflection of our lives.
Our lives, thoughts and
feelings are in this book. All of us have some “crazy moments” just as Don
Quixote. Sometimes, people who are around us criticise our feelings, thoughts
and actions as they did to Don Quixote in this book. Sometimes, people do not
understand us and our feelings. We also have some “realistic moments” like
Sancho Panza. We may realize that we have done some silly things. Although some
of our actions are ridiculous, we may have fun and live the moment just like
Sancho Panza.
We all have different
personalities and traits in ourselves. Sometimes our “Don Quixote personality”
occurs and we try to follow our dreams. Sometimes our “Sancho Panza
personality” occurs and we suddenly see that our dreams or ideas are ridiculous
or not brilliant. While we feel happy, we may create a person, like Dulcinea
Del Toboso, in our mind. We might take risks for that person. In conclusion, we
all have those characters in ourselves even if we have not realized it till
now.
We all should know
when to be “idealistic” and when to be “realistic”. Reading lots of fiction or
non-fiction books, being creative, chasing our dreams, taking risks, fighting
with our fears are very important. So, we should be idealistic in order to be
successful in life. However, we also should notice that we have to be realistic
in some specific moments, as our lives are not completely made of our dreams.
Do not you think that
we all have enormous fears just like the windmills? I am sure that we all have some huge problems
or some risks which we need to overcome. Do not you have friends who are always
with you, no matter how crazy dreams you want to follow? Just like Sancho Panza?
There is one more
thing that we have to learn from this amazing masterpiece. You do not always
have to listen to the others. At some specific moments, you should speak out
loud and follow your dreams. Individuals can be right while the society is
wrong.
All in all, Don
Quixote De La Mancha, the first novel in the world, is not just a fiction
story. It is a reflection of our lives, dreams, feelings and thoughts.
Thank you for
listening to me.
